Why isn't my book on Bookwire?
Your book is missing from Bookwire when:
- You registered it less than about 5 business days ago. Its page in the portal shows Processing while we register it with Bowker and Bowker publishes it.
- It isn't registered in our portal. An ISBN you use without registering the book never appears on Bookwire.
- Its title status hides it, such as Inactive or Withdrawn. Its page in the portal shows Inactive (Title Status).
- Its title or subtitle contains characters that Bookwire doesn't support. See Unsupported characters below.
- We couldn't register it. Its page in the portal shows Inactive. Contact us through the help widget.
Title status
To change the status, see Which title status should I choose?.
Unsupported characters
Bookwire supports standard Latin letters, common accented letters such as é, ñ and ü, and symbols such as © and ®. It doesn't support non-Latin scripts, such as Cyrillic, less common accented letters, such as ł, ș or ā, emoji or ™. The portal replaces em dashes with hyphens automatically when you register your book.
If your title or subtitle contains an unsupported character, your book's page in the portal shows Inactive (Unsupported Characters), and we hold the registration until the title is corrected.
Your ISBN stays valid either way. We can transliterate your title into Latin characters, or make a small correction to remove special characters, so Bookwire can list your book. Contact us through the help widget.
