Are there content restrictions for your ISBNs?

Yes. Staten House is the publisher of record on every ISBN we assign, so we can refuse or revoke registration for content in these categories:

  • Hate speech and discriminatory content: content that promotes hatred, discrimination or intolerance against people because of their identity, beliefs or background.
  • Explicit or gratuitously offensive material: explicit adult material or gratuitous violence that exists mainly to shock or offend, rather than to serve a narrative or educational purpose.
  • Plagiarized or copyright-infringing content: content that copies or reproduces other people's work without permission or proper attribution.
  • Misinformation: content that deliberately presents false information as fact, particularly on health, safety or public welfare.
  • Scams and fraudulent content: content designed to deceive readers, promote fraudulent schemes or facilitate illegal activity.
  • Libelous or defamatory content: false statements intended to damage the reputation of a specific person or organization.
  • Dangerous or harmful advice: instructions or guidance that could directly endanger a reader's physical or mental well-being.
  • Extremist or radical ideologies: content that promotes violence, terrorism or ideologies intended to incite harm against others.

We can also refuse or revoke registration for any content that breaks the law, including content not listed here.
